This year's AGM went ahead on the 19 May, the official minutes of which will be produced by Sheila. In the meantime I will summarise what went on.
The usual items like "who is here", "who apologises for not being here" and "acceptance of
last year's minutes" were quickly dispenced with.
A significant matter arising from the last set of minutes was the fact that we were to try to increase our membership and that this has not happened. It seems that a number of people have expressed an interest in the club but this has not resulted in anyone new turning up for practice. The precise reason for this failure is unclear but it was suggested that the directions to the club might be a bit unclear. I will try and remedy this. Also it was suggested we might try to get a bit more publicity for the practice sessions.
Reports from the Chairman, Treasurer and team captains can be summarised by saying the club is in a good state financially but the teams have all had disappointing seasons.
Team selection is once more a tricky issue. The main problem is not having sufficient members to be able to field teams at the levels appropriate for all the existing members.
For example, Pete Hargreaves would be more suited to playing in div 2 but his commitment is needed to support the 'A' team in div 1.
The 'A' team picks itself, being a nucleus of Pete, Tony and Jogi with Jeff Rigby, Sohail and others playing on a less regular basis.
For the other teams, it is not yet known who is and is not willing to play next year, so again we have deferred final selection of B, C (and D?) teams until later.
A meeting will be held on 7th July, 7.30 at Launton to finalise the other teams. If you have a vested interest, be there!
The McKechnie Cup was awarded to chairman Tony Gorman for his coaching work on Thursday nights.
The committee were all re-elected to their respective posts.
